Jobs that fit a small-move crew
What counts as a small move?
A small move is any job that fits a single truck and a normal working day. Ardie's Movers has different truck sizes, and many small moves fit a 16 ft truck with a crew of 2 to 4 employees.
Single-item moves
One sofa, dresser, bed, cabinet or table. A single heavy or awkward piece is quoted on its own, based on its size, weight, route and access. See also furniture moving.
Small household loads
A few rooms of furniture and boxes, a partial move or a move out of a shared home. Packing is not included, so boxes should be packed and sealed before the crew arrives.
Marketplace and store pickups
Bought something on Facebook Marketplace or from a furniture store? Ardie's Movers can pick it up, transport it and place it where you want it at home.
Appliance moves
Fridges, washers, dryers and other accepted appliances, assessed by size, weight, stairs and access. Disconnecting or reconnecting water, gas or electrical service is not included.
Treadmills and exercise equipment
Treadmills, ellipticals, weight benches and similar equipment, assessed by weight, dimensions, any disassembly needed and the route in and out.
Moving a small office? See commercial moving. Planning a full house move? Start with residential moving. Specialty items such as pianos, safes and aquariums are assessed separately.
Moving most or all of a household? The dedicated residential moving service may be a better fit.
Quote first, then move
How does a small move with Ardie's Movers work?
The more clearly the photos and details show the job, the more accurate the fixed-price quote.
- 01
Send the basics
Share your moving date, pickup and delivery addresses, and photos of everything that needs to move. Use the online form or text the photos.
- 02
Mention the access
Tell the team about stairs, elevators, parking, loading docks and long carries at both addresses. Known access is built into the quote.
- 03
Get a fixed-price quote
Ardie's Movers reviews the load, distance and access and sends a written, fixed-price quote, usually within 1 business day. A deposit may be required depending on the scope.
- 04
Protect and load
On moving day, the crew uses moving blankets, floor runners, dollies and straps, with stretch wrap where needed. Basic furniture disassembly is handled where appropriate.
- 05
Unload and place
Tell the crew where each piece goes. If extra items appear that were not in the photos, the change is discussed before it is added.
