Freshwater aquariums
Fish, appropriate original water, substrate, media, equipment, stand and lighting can form part of the assessed plan.

Complete-system planning for the tank and livestock
Ardie's Movers handles freshwater, saltwater, reef and custom aquarium moves after assessing the tank, livestock, equipment, access and destination.
Water, biological media, temperature, the route and setup requirements are considered as parts of the complete system.

Different systems require different plans
The tank, livestock, equipment, access, distance and setup requirements are assessed before the move. Aqueon's moving guide also emphasizes advance planning for the complete aquarium.

Fish, appropriate original water, substrate, media, equipment, stand and lighting can form part of the assessed plan.
Saltwater, fish, invertebrates, live rock, media, pumps, heaters and lighting require advance details.
Sensitive livestock, temperature, travel, filtration and destination setup are confirmed before booking.
Tanks over 150 gallons and custom systems are individually assessed and quoted.
More than moving the glass
Ardie's Movers assesses the livestock, water, biological media, equipment, tank, route and destination before creating the moving plan.
Confirm tank type, size, livestock, equipment, locations, access and placement.
Consider species, travel time, temperature, oxygen and destination conditions using relevant fish transport guidance.
Plan appropriate original water, filter media, substrate, live rock and related components.
Disconnect standard aquarium equipment within the confirmed scope.
Prepare the empty tank separately and transport it upright according to the assessed route.
Position the tank and reconnect confirmed equipment at the destination.

The animals and tank are separate parts of the move
Fish and livestock handling can form part of the assessed aquarium-moving service.
Handling, temperature changes, oxygen and water quality can contribute to fish stress.
Insulated or temperature-aware measures can be used when required by the aquarium, weather and travel time.
Gradual adjustment to the destination's water temperature may be important.
Unusual or medically sensitive livestock must be discussed first. Species-specific advice should come from an appropriate aquarium or veterinary professional.

Preserve what is appropriate for the assessed move
Some established water can be preserved when appropriate; this does not mean every gallon is always transported.
Established filter media deserves deliberate handling and should not dry unnecessarily during suitable shorter moves.
These components may form part of the plan depending on the aquarium and destination.
The equipment, media, water and livestock are considered as the system is set up again. See the fish tank guide.
Empty does not always mean light or simple
The tank is emptied and prepared separately, then protected and moved upright according to its construction, route, access and equipment requirements.

Length, width, height, construction and approximate empty weight shape the plan.
The stand, canopy, lighting, filtration, pumps and combined furniture moving needs are considered separately.
Stairs, turns, landings, carrying distance and truck position affect handling and suitable mechanical aids.
Protective tank preparation and upright transport are selected for the assessed move.
Aquariums over 150 gallons and custom systems require individual assessment. Ardie's Movers does not promise that every tank can be moved under every condition.

Handling, access, equipment and crew requirements can differ significantly.
Livestock, reef or custom systems, stairs, teardown, setup, distance and temperature conditions can affect the quote. Review Ontario's hiring movers guidance.
Get an Aquarium Moving EstimateLiving systems require practical planning
Insulated or temperature-aware measures can be used when required; this is not guaranteed temperature-controlled transport.
Longer travel may require added planning because appropriate oxygen matters; see relevant aeration guidance.
Filtration, biological media, temperature, livestock and substrate affect the complete system.
General fish-care guidance recommends allowing transported fish to adjust to destination water conditions rather than making abrupt transitions.

Documented moving experience
One large whole-home move involved multiple aquariums alongside furniture, boxes and fragile belongings. Ardie's Movers worked with the customer to plan the sequence, identify special preparation needs and maintain close communication.
The move went well. Aquarium components, livestock, household contents and final setup may all depend on the order of work. Learn about residential moving for a complete home relocation.

Fish and livestock removal and transport can form part of an assessed aquarium move. The empty tank is prepared separately. Unusual livestock requirements must be discussed before booking.
The tank must be appropriately prepared before transport. Livestock, appropriate original water, media, substrate, live rock, equipment and the empty tank are handled as separate parts of the relocation.
Appropriate original tank water can be preserved and transported as part of the plan. This does not mean every gallon is automatically transported.
Filter media is considered within the approved scope. Its handling depends on the aquarium, distance, travel conditions and destination setup.
Yes, after assessment. Reef systems and sensitive livestock can require added planning, so complete details are needed before booking.
Large and custom aquariums may be moved after assessment. Tanks over 150 gallons and custom systems are individually quoted.
Standard equipment disconnection and reconnection can be included. Unusual plumbing, electrical, structural or specialist work requires separate confirmation.
Starting guidance is around $150-$300 up to 75 gallons and $300-$500 for 75-150 gallons. Larger and custom systems are individually quoted. These are not fixed prices.
Timing is case by case. Tank size, livestock, access, teardown, travel, setup and other requirements affect the duration.
Long-distance moves may be considered case by case when the origin is within the approved service area and the complete requirements have been assessed.
Do not release them into natural waterways. Fisheries and Oceans Canada warns that released aquarium species can spread disease, parasites or invasive species. Use an appropriate rehoming or disposal option.
